LLACA 3RD ANNUAL ASSESSORS MODERATION

The City of San Pedro welcomes Laguna League of Accredited Competency Assessor’s Inc. which held its 3rd annual Assessor’s Moderation of 2017 at the Pavilion Hall, City Hall of San Pedro on January 12, 2017.
Ariel R. Sotto, LLACA Senior President, facilitated the event. Members of LLACA, both from private and public institution gathered yesterday to discuss the annual assessment moderation and conduct a calibration for old and new assessors from the province of Laguna. Addition to this, the competency of assessors from different qualifications and evaluation of TESDA was also conducted.

Ang masusukatan po sa January 18 ay iyong mga nakapag parehistro pa noong July – December 2016. Kung magpapasa pa lang po kayo ng requirements sa January 18, ay sa susunod na batch na po kayo masusukatan.

CASCASPI GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The City Alliance of Senior Citizens Association of San Pedro Inc. held its general assembly and introduction of newly elected officers today, January 13, 2017 at the city hall of San Pedro.
The general assembly was attended by all chapter presidents of CASCASPI.

During the assembly, Dr. Analiza Morando, ophthalmologist, gave a free lecture regarding cataract awareness especially to the senior citizens. An open forum was also held to cater some of the questions from the senior citizens present on the assembly.

SAN PEDRONIANS COMPETING AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF PERFORMING ARTS (WCOPA) 2017

Ma. Cherillie Dela Cueva- Florentino and Kelly Ellen Guanco Garcia made a courtesy call to mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz last January 16, 2017 at the city hall of San Pedro, Laguna.
Ms. Florentino and Garcia will be the representatives for the World Championship of Performing Arts 2017 that will be held in Longbeach, California, USA on June 30- July 9, 2017.
The ladies, both hailed from Brgy. San Vicente, San Pedro, Laguna will compete with other representatives from 50 different countries for the gold award.

KOREAN WORLD FRIENDS YOUTH VOLUNTEERS

Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz along with city administrator Filemon I. Sibulo and CSWD head, Ms. Fatima Autor, presented the CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION to the 27 Korean World Youth Volunteers last January 17, 2017 at the city hall of San Pedro.

The Korean support group, with the help of City Social and Welfare Development Office headed by Ms. Fatima Autor, conducted different social programs that benefited families especially children from Southville 3A in barangay San Antonio.

Mayor Cataquiz extended her grateful appreciation for the Koreans’ steadfast support, volunteerism and dedication in rendering social and medical services to the constituents of the city.

ENHANCED NATIONAL GREENING PROGRAM

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources led by EMS Senior Bernardita Daliva and Etech II, Jose Briñas Jr., conducted a ground validation for the proposed bamboo site plantation in connection to the Enhanced National Greening Program under the executive order 193 – extension of ENGP that will run until year 2028. During the meeting at the city hall of San Pedro, according to DENR, bamboo is chosen for the following reasons; great alternative as construction material thus, lessening deforestation, controls soil erosion, high rate of carbon absorption and provides livelihood in the community.
Chosen barangays from the city, especially barangays with river banks which are likely to be affected by floods, like Poblacion, Sto Niño, San Antonio, San Roque and Cuyab, will be the sites for the bamboo plantation.
City Mayor Lourdes S Cataquiz and City Environment and Natural Resources Office, led by Marilou Balba, extended their support to the program. According to Mayor Cataquiz, the city government will encourage everyone in the city from all barangays, non-government organizations and homeowners associations to join the program because of the important environmental and livelihood benefits it can produce.

In attendance during the meeting were barangay chairmen, CENRO staff and SPUR team. (January 17, 2017)

COUPLES FOR CHRIST (CFC) ANSWERING THE CRY OF THE POOR (ANCOP) CANADA, TO PROVIDE FREE SHELTERS

CFC-ANCOP to provide free shelters for the poor, in partnership with the city government of San Pedro.

The Couples for Christ(CFC) Answering the Cry for the Poor (ANCOP) Canada made a courtesy call to city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz last January 18, 2017 at the city hall of San Pedro.

City councilor Delio Hatulan, CFC ANCOP Canada, bro. Rudy Talosig, bro. Alex Reyes, bro. Conrad Fernandez, bro. Art Diaz, ANCOP Operation Manager, Elmer Cadiz and ANCOP finance manager Manette Z. Acero together with the Laguna provincial ANCOP team, during their meeting with mayor Lourdes Cataquiz, discussed the plan of constructing free shelters to the poorest of the poor constituents of the city. According to CFC-ANCOP Canada president, Ricky Cuenca, their group will be providing funds for the proposed shelters in a 1.8 hectare located at Bayan-bayanan. The city government, thru mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, shall provide the site development of the area while the support system will be of the CFC ANCOP CANADA.

Addition to the free shelters, CFC plans to also sponsor one educational scholarship per family which will be living in one of the said shelters. Along with this, livelihood programs and spiritual guidance for the family will also be provided. This heartwarming gesture is their way of returning all the blessings the group has received from God.

City mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz extended her great appreciation for the group in choosing the city’s constituents to benefit from their project. ” The LGU and CFC ANCOP’s collaboration in amplifying lives of the marginalized sector is one way of changing lives and giving back to the society.” Said mayor.

The target groundbreaking of the shelters will be expected on the month of March 2017.

Thru the initiative of city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, in cooperation with the City Health Office headed by Dr. Bobby Olivarez, Head Dentist, Dr. Medardo Ramirez and Chief Nurse, Riah Fojas, the program“ Libreng Pustiso: Kay ganda ng ngiti ko sa bago kong Pustiso” was held at the city hall of San Pedro,today, January 18, 2017.
200 constituents of the city who registered from July-December of last year were given the “impression fitting” of their teeth. Dr. Ramirez, of City Health Office, led the team in extending the service with the cooperation of the Government Dentist of Laguna representatives, local dentist, Don Romero, Dr. Charito Martinez and Dr. Myrna Anciano Sisik. According to Dr. Ramirez, the finished denture teeth will be distributed on or before February 9, 2017.
City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz mentioned that since the number of request for another Free Denture Teeth Program increased, with the help of CHO and Head Dentist, Dr. Medardo Ramirez, the city government of San Pedro will conduct, once again, another “Libreng Pustiso: Kay ganda ng ngiti ko sa bago kong Pustiso” on June of this year.

BLOOD PRESSURE KITS DISTRIBUTED TO DIFFERENT BARANGAYS.

Thru the efforts of executive assistant V, Aaron Cataquiz, the city of San Pedro received an additional 7 digital blood pressure apparatus prior to the 20 pieces given last November 12, 2016 by the office of Senator Aquilino “Coco” Pimentel Jr.
City Health Officer Bobby Olivarez and chief Nurse Riah Fojas, handed the seven BP kits to the brangay health stations of Cuyab, Laram, Langgam, San Vicente, San Antonio Southville 3A and Landayan last January 20, 2017 at the city hall of San Pedro.
The BP Kits will be used as part of the quality health care services to the constituents of the city specifically for the monitoring of patients with history of hypertension.

The SUNHAN MEDICAL FORUM, thru city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, in collaboration with the City Health Office and City Social Welfare and Development, will be having a three-day medical mission at barangay Bagong Silang covered court ( Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017), Barangay San Vicente covered court –Laguerta ( Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017) and Caterina & Giuditta Cittadini School ( Monday, Jan. 30, 2017).

AKTIBO YOUTH ORGANIZATION OF SAN PEDRO (AYOS) LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND SEMINAR

Thru city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, more than 50 presidents from various Aktibo Youth Organization of San Pedro (AYOS) chapters around the city of San Pedro attended and completed the very first AYOS President Leadership Training and Seminar last January 21, 2017 at the Pavilion Hall, city hall of San Pedro. The leadership training is one of the many activities lined up by the city Department of Youth and Sports Development( DYSD) for year 2017.

With the vision of creating more sustainable programs for the youth of San Pedro, DYSD concurrent head, Aaron Calixto S. Cataquiz has lined-up a series of progressive training programs for the youth of San Pedro. The boot camp highlighted the dynamics of managing local youth organizations, succession planning, project planning and implementation creating impact projects and leadership among others.

The training program was delivered by prominent youth leaders and entrepreneurs from the city; Engr. Lorenz Joe Dela, an entrepreneur and 2016 YSEALI fellow of the United States Embassy tackled modern leadership, impact creation, and relationship of youth organizations and the internet. Mr. Rommel Gerodias, the chair of 2017 ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council and President of Sauber Professionals Inc. emphasized the essential components of organizational management, roles of leaders, effective meetings and succession planning. Mr. Joenidel Dela, a student leader from Far Eastern University stressed on the development and implementation of impact projects and programs in youth organizations. Mr. John Ross Bacanto, a top sales executive and a decorated leader of JCI San Pedro Portal Key focused a vital component of running a youth organization and various ways of fund raising.

The whole day Training and Seminar has been an eye opener to the attendees and it has fired-up the presidents of various AYOS chapters. Impact projects were drawn out from the participants and has been given attention by the organizers for development. DYSD concurrent head, Aaron Cataquiz encouraged the presidents to submit their proposed sustainable impact projects this year for possible adaptation and funding of DYSD. Mr. Cataquiz will also announced the awarding of 2017 The Aktibo Youth Organizations of the Year Awards where the contest mechanics will be released very soon.

BOTTOM-UP-BUDGET LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM FOR FEMALE RESIDENCE OF SAN PEDRO CITY JAIL

Thru city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, the BUB Livelihood Program led by BUB Project Manager Jun Castillo and Focal Person, Lirio Rivera, in collaboration with San Pedro Bureau of Jail Management and Penitentiary and Department of Labor and Employment Assistance Project held a training on “Crocheted Bottle Holder” for Female Residence of San Pedro City Jail last January 30, 2017 at SPBJMP.

According to BUB Project Manager, Jun Castillo, the program for the female residences of San Pedro City Jail will help them earn extra income from the project. This project will also keep the inmates busy, and convert the time they have into a productive one.
Meldy C. Segura, CSWD volunteer trainer and a daycare teacher led the training of the inmate participants. She said that in order for the project to succeed, dedication and sincerity in working is needed to produce an effective outcome.

According to Lirio P. Rivera, this is their third project solely for the involvement of female inmates. In this project, it will enable them to obtain livelihood skills, such as crocheting and also to prepare them to become productive citizens once they are ready for released in our society.
