TESTIMONIAL DINNER FOR JUNIOR CITY OFFICIALS
City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz held a dinner for the Junior City Officials and their counterpart last December 2, 2016 at the city hall of San Pedro, Laguna.
This special event is in connection with the annual installation of City Junior Officials composed of High School students from different High schools of the city.
The annual event of providing high school students a week-long immersion in governance of local government unit aims to expose youth in public services, instill the value of work and responsibilities and build leadership for the youth.
CONSTRUCTION OF SANTO SEPULCRO CHURCH KICKS OFF
Kick-off of the construction of the Santo Sepulcro Church at barangay Landayan was held last December 3, 2016. The momentous event was attended by City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, Hon. Arlene Arcillas, City Councilors, Hon. Lonlon Ambayec, Hon. Jaime Ambayec and Hon. Celso Ambayec. Brgy. Landayan Chairwoman Corazon Amil, Former Mayor Calixto Cataquiz and Diwa Tayao were also present. Monsignor Melchor Barcenas thanked all the attendees for attending the groundbreaking occasion especially to Dr. Mercedes Oliver for her contribution in preparation for the construction of the church. The Santo Sepulcro Church is the home of “LOLO UWENG” of San Pedro, Laguna. The new and bigger Santo Sepulcro Church will be able to accommodate more devotees from around the country.

AMANTE EMERGENCY HOSPITAL GETS AWARDED AS BEST PERFORMING LGU HOSPITAL
Thru the leadership of City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz and City Health Office headed by Dr. Bobby Olivarez along with Head Nurse Riah Fojas and San Pedro Jose L. Amante Emergency Hospital Administration and Staff, the SPJLAEH received a Plaque of Recognition from the Provincial Health Office in collaboration with Department of Health Regional Office IV-A for being the First Placer in “BEST PERFORMING LGU-HOSPITAL (LEVEL 1) based on the 2015 LGU-Scorecard. The award was presented by Gov. Ramil Hernandez, DOH Laguna Officer, Gigi Janairo and DOH Regional Officer, Rio Magpantay. The plaque was received by City Health Officer Dr. Bobby Olivarez, Chief Nurse Riah Fojas, SPJLAEH Administrator Malou Apilado, Consultant Cesar Ballano, CSWD/HIV Counselor Cynthia Mayores and Training Officer/Assistant Chief Nurse Romnick Aguilar last December 6, 2016 at Santa Cruz, Laguna during the 3rd Provincial Awarding Ceremony of Department of Health Regional Office in collaboration with Laguna Provincial Health Office.
The Jose L. Amante Emergency Hospital exhibited laudable performance on health services. The indicators for SPJLAEH to garnered Green Color and took home the 1st Place are as follows: Philhealth rate, No balance billing compliance, Philhealth Utilization Rate, Average length of stay, Discharge, improved and recovered, unfilled prescriptions/supplies, Safety precaution, cleanliness and orderliness, safe water & proper waste disposal, continuing improvement program, manpower development & ethics/training, certification/recognition given by an external body, customer-institutional relations, functional referral system patient engagement programs, programs on good governance and management, bed occupant rate and Gross death rate.
Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz congratulates SPJLAEH for a job well done. She also promised to strengthen and increase competence and success in delivering health services to our city’s constituents. She also mentioned that the city government and SPJLAEH will work hand in hand in order to continue to be an institution of inspiration for other LGU hospitals in our country.
BREAST AND PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS
Nagkaroon ng isang Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness Seminar noong Disyembre 14 , 2016 sa Pavilion Hall, City Hall ng San Pedro. Ang Prostate Cancer Awareness Program ay inilunsad ng City Health Office sa pangunguna ni City Health Officer, Dr. Robert Olivarez, Chief Nurse Riah Fojas at Reynante Arboleda.
Halos 200 katao mula sa Samahang Kababaihan at Kalalakihan ng San Pedro ang dumalo sa programang pangkalusugang ito.
Pinangunahan ni Ma. Celinita Mahalin, midwife, ang diskusyon tungkol sa breast cancer at si Reynante Arboleda naman ang namahagi ng kaalaman patungkol sa Prostate Cancer.
Isang Open forum din ang naganap para sa mga katanungan ng mga dumalo patungkol sa breast and prostate cancer. Isinagawa ito upang mabigyan pa ang mga panauhin ng karagdagang impormasyon tungkol sa cancer. Ito ay sa pangunguna ni Chief Nurse Riah Fojas.
Sa mensahe ni City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, kanyang binigyang importansya ang pagkakaroon ng “Healthy lifestyle”. Sinabi rin niya na ang pagpapatingin sa doktor ng maaga, o ang early detection ay isang malaking bahagi upang makaiwas sa mas malalang karamdaman.
Dahil ang kanser ay itinuturing na isang maiiwasang sakit, layon ng seminar na ito na mabigyan ng karagdagang kaalaman kung papaano makakaiwas at mabawasan ang panganib ng cancer.

BUNTIS CONGRESS “ALAGANG INA, ALAGANG BABY”
The Buntis Congress with the theme “Alagang Ina, Alagang Baby; Walang dapat mamatay sa pag bigay ng buhay” was held today, December 16, 2016 at the multi-purpose hall, city hall of San Pedro. The event was spearheaded by the City Health Office Head, Dr. Robert Olivarez and Chief Nurse Riah Fojas thru the initiative of city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz.
Dr. Mary Anne Rivera, obstetrician-gynecologist of Jose L. Amante Emergency Hospital(JLAEH), lead the seminar of more than 150 pregnant women who are in their last trimester (7-9 months) of pregnancy. Buntis congress aims to strengthen the community’s promotional initiatives for maternal health through conducting seminars that offers information towards healthy pregnancy.
Lourdes S. Cataquiz, thanked the City Health Office for their effort in spreading awareness on healthy pregnancy. In her message, she said that pregnant women should give importance to their health during the pregnancy stage because pregnancy is a sensitive state not only for women but also the ones they’re carrying inside them.
Before the event ended, city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz lead the “Buntis Kit”distribution to the pregnant attendees.
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION (CSC) WILL HOLD CARAVAN FOR THE MARCH 2017 CAREER SERVICE EXAMINATION APPLICANTS
Individuals who are interested to take the Career Service Examination- Pen and Paper Test (CES-PPT) on March 12, 2017 may submit their applications at the San Pedro City Hall (Multi Purpose Hall) on December 22, 2016 from 9AM to 3PM.

2016 YOUTH ASSEMBLY
The City Youth and Sports Development Office (CYSD) with the help of the City of San Pedro holds Youth Assemblies annually to equip participants with the practical skills and know-how to develop and implement fresh ideas that support the achievement of their various group and individual goals.
The 2016 Youth Assembly was held at the San Pedro Sports Center last December 27, 2016. It was attended by youth group members and leaders within the city. Mayor Lourdes Cataquiz also graced the event together with Executive Secretary Aaron Cataquiz and Councilors Bobot Berroya, Kent Lagasca and Bernadeth Olivares. Rommel Vale is the head of CYSD.
THE CITY OF SAN PEDRO CELEBRATES 3RD CITYHOOD ANNIVERSARY
The celebration kicked off with a mass lead by Rev. Fr. Pablo T. Bugay Jr., held at the city hall of San Pedro, Laguna (December , 29, 2016) . The mass was attended by city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, Vice Mayor Iryne Vierneza, city councilors, Bernadette Olivares, Jimbo Ambayec, Lon-Lon Ambayec, Delio Hatulan and Bobot Berroya. Also present during the mass were, former mayor and father of San Pedro Cityhood, Calixto Cataquiz, department heads and city employees. After the mass, a “boodle fight” lead by mayor Baby Cataquiz and Department Heads took place at the city hall of San Pedro. City employees gathered and took part of the fun lunch break.
The night was celebrated by showcasing different talents of the city employees during the San Pedro Got Talent which was sponsored by Globe Telecom. Raymond Mabute and Jane De Leon graced the night with a special performance as they danced and sang for the audiences. Also present was Ramone of the Voice season 2.
The momentous night was concluded by colorful fireworks and announcement of winners from the singing and talent competitions. The winners are as follows: Hamerito Mateo won first place, Reynante Amil, 2nd Placer and John Mark Lipit.
INAUGURATION AND BLESSING OF SAN PEDRO APOSTOL PARISH CHURCH
City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz attended the Inauguration and Blessing of San Pedro Apostol Parish Church’s newly built parish office, parish hall and convent last January 7, 2017.
Most Reverend Buenaventura Famadico officiated the Thanksgiving Mass and blessing of the Parish Office, Parish Hall and Convent which was concelebrated by Rev. Msgr. Alex Amante, Rev. Fr. Pablo T. Bugay Jr., Rev. Fr. Christopher Baldemor and Rev. Fr. Christian Cletus Nalda.
Also present and led the ribbon-cutting with city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz were, Congresswoman Arlene Arcillas and Dr. Mercedes Oliver. Other attendees were, vice mayor Iryne Vierneza, city councilors Lon-Lon Ambayec, Bernadeth Olivares, Jimbo Ambayec, Bobot Berroya, barangay Nueva at Poblacion Chairmen, Abet Alon-Alon & Abet Aquino, Executive Assistant Aaron Cataquiz, City Budget Officer, Lourdes Remolacio, City Social Welfare and Development Head, Fatima Autor, Diwa Tayao, and SPTI Administrator Dominador Marmeto.
Father Paul T. Bugay initiated the construction of the three parish facilities. Thru his efforts and the contributions received from the parishioners and sponsors, the newly built parish office, hall and convent was made possible to further enrich spiritual services given to local parishioners.
According to city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, the San Pedro Apostol Parish plays a huge part to every catholic San Pedronians of the city. “San Pedro Apostol Parish Church is a sanctuary to talk to God, that is why I congratulate each and everyone who participated and made exertions in making this memorable event possible.” She added.
