City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz was delighted when she saw 120 or so drivers of public utility vehicles (PUV) in the Transport Summit held last November 27, 2015 (Friday) at the Pavilion Hall of the City Hall building.
Representatives from different transport companies convened in the seminar. Engr. Rogelio Diaz from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Renato David and Edna Olavier from the Department of Transport and Communications (DOTC), and Atty. Rufino Bonggalin from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Part of the San Pedro Urban Renewal (SPUR) Program, Mayor Cataquiz wants to attract investors to San Pedro as other major cities such as Makati and Alabang are the usual targets. One of the ways she plans to do this is to improve the transport sector, by adding parking spaces for the PUV’s as well as prescribe uniforms for the drivers to project a professional vibe. She plans to provide Philhealth and SSS for the drivers as well.
