The City of San Pedro celebrated the last salvo of its annual Sampaguita Festival, Monday 22 February 2016. This is the 9th time that the festival was celebrated. The celebration was formerly known as “Manok ni San Pedro Festival”, which started in 1999 and was renamed to “Sampaguita Festival” in the year 2002. The celebration kicked off with a grand parade, featuring students from different schools, teachers from DepEd, city officials, the city marching bands, Gng. Their supporters also joined in the festivities. Dressed in Sampaguita inspired outfits, the students danced to festive tunes, while the marching bands played to their hearts’ content and the LGBT community showed off their flashy outfits as they walked towards the plaza. A short speech was given by City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, citing the cultural significance of the Sampaguita Festival to the city of San Pedro, particularly the fact that San Pedro is the biggest distributor of Sampaguita in the Philippines. The other members of Team CT BOOOM HALAL also gave their short messages to the public.
