The movie world is almost often the focus of limelight. On the other hand, in the field of public service especially local governance, time has ripened for performing local governments to receive well deserved recognition merited by certain characteristics like transparency in financial management, concern for people and environment, business friendliness and therefore competitiveness, being prepared for disasters and peace and order.
Qualified provinces, cities and municipalities receive the Seal of Good Local Governance yearly and regionally from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Mayor Lourdes “Baby” Cataquiz and her work force at the San Pedro City Hall walked up the stage during the awarding ceremonies to receive the award for the Seal of Good Local Governance at the Development Academy of the Philippines in Tagaytay City, Cavite on September 2, 2015. A big-sized plaque, medal and check were among the prizes.
Incidentally, among those awarded was Governor Vilma Santos-Recto, who received for the province of Batangas while Mayor Baby, a shining star in her own right, stood side by side with “the star for all seasons.”
In the province of Laguna, other awardees were the cities of San Pablo and Calamba.
