Thru city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, the BUB Livelihood Program led by BUB Project Manager Jun Castillo and Focal Person, Lirio Rivera, in collaboration with San Pedro Bureau of Jail Management and Penitentiary and Department of Labor and Employment Assistance Project held a training on “Crocheted Bottle Holder” for Female Residence of San Pedro City Jail last January 30, 2017 at SPBJMP.
According to BUB Project Manager, Jun Castillo, the program for the female residences of San Pedro City Jail will help them earn extra income from the project. This project will also keep the inmates busy, and convert the time they have into a productive one.
Meldy C. Segura, CSWD volunteer trainer and a daycare teacher led the training of the inmate participants. She said that in order for the project to succeed, dedication and sincerity in working is needed to produce an effective outcome.
According to Lirio P. Rivera, this is their third project solely for the involvement of female inmates. In this project, it will enable them to obtain livelihood skills, such as crocheting and also to prepare them to become productive citizens once they are ready for released in our society.
