Thru city mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, more than 50 presidents from various Aktibo Youth Organization of San Pedro (AYOS) chapters around the city of San Pedro attended and completed the very first AYOS President Leadership Training and Seminar last January 21, 2017 at the Pavilion Hall, city hall of San Pedro. The leadership training is one of the many activities lined up by the city Department of Youth and Sports Development( DYSD) for year 2017.
With the vision of creating more sustainable programs for the youth of San Pedro, DYSD concurrent head, Aaron Calixto S. Cataquiz has lined-up a series of progressive training programs for the youth of San Pedro. The boot camp highlighted the dynamics of managing local youth organizations, succession planning, project planning and implementation creating impact projects and leadership among others.
The training program was delivered by prominent youth leaders and entrepreneurs from the city; Engr. Lorenz Joe Dela, an entrepreneur and 2016 YSEALI fellow of the United States Embassy tackled modern leadership, impact creation, and relationship of youth organizations and the internet. Mr. Rommel Gerodias, the chair of 2017 ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council and President of Sauber Professionals Inc. emphasized the essential components of organizational management, roles of leaders, effective meetings and succession planning. Mr. Joenidel Dela, a student leader from Far Eastern University stressed on the development and implementation of impact projects and programs in youth organizations. Mr. John Ross Bacanto, a top sales executive and a decorated leader of JCI San Pedro Portal Key focused a vital component of running a youth organization and various ways of fund raising.
The whole day Training and Seminar has been an eye opener to the attendees and it has fired-up the presidents of various AYOS chapters. Impact projects were drawn out from the participants and has been given attention by the organizers for development. DYSD concurrent head, Aaron Cataquiz encouraged the presidents to submit their proposed sustainable impact projects this year for possible adaptation and funding of DYSD. Mr. Cataquiz will also announced the awarding of 2017 The Aktibo Youth Organizations of the Year Awards where the contest mechanics will be released very soon.
