The City of San Pedro earned great success from the recently concluded PhilHealth “Alaga Ka” Program held last November 16, 2015. This was done by the PhilHealth regional office and Local Health Insurance Office of Laguna in coordination with other participating agencies, namely the Department of Health (DOH), Local Government Unit of San Pedro, Laguna, Department of Interior and Labor Government (DILG), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), and Jose L. Amante Emergency Hospital (JLAEH).
Maria Teresa S. Alba (Local Health Insurance Office – Calamba, Social Insurance Officer III) conducted an evaluation along with Dr. Edwin M. Oriña (Regional Vice President PhilHealth Regional Office IV-A) at the City Hall of San Pedro last December 04, 2015 (Friday).
As of the evaluation, 4,000 indigent beneficiaries were received by the City of San Pedro and respondents were satisfied with the program. They encouraged the health workers to keep up the good work as well as provide some feedback as to how to improve the Rural Health Units (RHU). Dr. Oriña provided insight and tips to Head Nurse Riah Fojas and the City Health Office (CHO) as to how they can improve their health care.
City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz was pleased with the results and told the CHO to keep up the good work and keep on improving the health care for the citizens of San Pedro, as health is one of her major projects.
Also present during the evaluation were City Administrator Filemon I. Sibulo and City Human Resource Management Office Head Leah Lu-Morando.
